What makes Joy of Hearing different from other clinics?

We are run wholly by expert clinical professionals — not a retail outlet. Every recommendation is grounded in precise audiological assessment, evidence-based practice, and transparent pricing. We bring internationally-calibrated diagnostics and rehabilitation to India at an accessible cost, without compromise on quality.

How long does a hearing assessment take?

A comprehensive clinical hearing assessment takes approximately 20–30 minutes. It includes a physical examination of the ear canal (otoscopy), pure-tone audiometry across all frequencies, speech discrimination testing, and middle-ear function tests (tympanometry) — providing a complete picture of your hearing health.

Do you offer trials for hearing aids?

Absolutely. We offer real-world, no-obligation trials. You can try modern hearing devices instantly in the clinic, then step outside and experience the difference in everyday environments before making any commitment. We believe you should be confident in your choice before you invest.

At what age should children get their hearing tested?

Newborn hearing screening should ideally be done within the first month of life. For children, hearing should be routinely assessed at key developmental milestones — especially if there are concerns about speech delays, inattention in class, or a family history of hearing loss. Early identification is critical for language and learning development.

What is the difference between a screening and a full assessment?

A hearing screening is a quick pass/fail test — it tells you whether further testing is needed, but does not diagnose the type or degree of hearing loss. A full clinical assessment (audiogram) provides a detailed map of your hearing across all frequencies and gives your audiologist the information needed to recommend the right treatment or technology.

How long does it take to adjust to wearing hearing aids?

For most people, the brain needs 4 to 6 weeks to adapt to the new range of sounds introduced by hearing aids. We guide you through a structured acclimatisation plan — starting in quieter settings and progressively moving to more challenging environments. Follow-up appointments ensure your settings are fine-tuned as you adapt.

How often should adults get their hearing tested?

Adults should have their hearing checked at least once every 1–2 years after the age of 50, even if they do not notice any hearing difficulties. Annual hearing evaluations are recommended for individuals exposed to loud noise, experiencing tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or noticing changes in their hearing. Regular hearing assessments help detect problems early, allowing timely intervention and better long-term hearing health.

Do you have multiple clinic locations across India?

Yes. Joy of Hearing operates across multiple cities in India, with each clinic staffed by qualified hearing and speech care professionals and equipped with advanced imported diagnostic instruments. Visit our Branches page to find the centre nearest to you.
